The very first album by the beatles - well, at least the u. S. Version, which is missing "please please me" and another song for some reason. Still, it's a strong statement of where the band was at as they started to embark on a serious recording career after spending quite a bit of time banging out show after show in small clubs.
The beatles ’ sgt. Pepper’s lonely hearts club band remains the most iconic album cover of all time. From paul mccartney ’s original concept to the final design, staged by british pop artist peter blake and his then wife, jann haworth, it’s not just an album cover, but a dazzling display of modern art that defines its era.
The beatles performed in hamburg on and off from 1960 through 1962 with engagements back in liverpool interspersed. It was at a performance at hometown venue the cavern club where brian epstein first saw the group play. Epstein was curious after hearing mention of them in his family-owned record store and in the pages of mersey beat magazine. He returned to take in the show a few more times and on december 10, 1961, epstein approached the band about managing them, and a five-year contract was signed in january 1962.
The beatles is an animated television series featuring representations of the popular english rock band of the same name. It was originally broadcast from 1965 to 1969 on abc in the u. S. (only 1965 to 1967 was first run; later seasons were repeats). The series debuted on 25 september 1965 and new episodes ended on 21 october 1967. A total of 39 episodes were produced. The series was shown on saturdays at 10:30 am est until the 1967 third season when it was moved to 12:00 pm est. For the 1968–69 fourth season, which consisted of repeats, the series was shown at 9:30 am est on sundays. Each episode has a name of a beatles song, so the story is based on its lyrics and it is also played at some time in the episode. The original series was rebroadcast in syndication by mtv in 1986 and 1987 and on the disney channel beginning in 1989 on fridays at 5 pm. The series was a historical milestone as the first weekly television series to feature animated versions of real, living people.

(photo by baron wolman/iconic images/getty images) baron wolman/iconic images/getty images considering that it takes some formidable organizational chops to serve as a competent beatles bibliographer, it can be downright daunting if you’re coming to the stacks of fab four literature as a neophyte reader wondering where you might start. For those are some buckling shelves, filled with worthy tomes, arresting diversions, gossipy trivia and dense accounts of what kind of gear the band used, who their tailors were, how many times per annum they visited the dentist, etc.
Spare a thought for the poor souls who created the sleeves to the beatles’ album. The problem, y’see, with designing covers for arguably the greatest band of all time is, no matter how mind-blowing the artwork you sling together, it’ll always be overlooked for the music within, like kids tearing into wrapping paper on christmas morning. Da vinci himself could have been stuck the mona lisa on ‘revolver’ and it’d still have been passed over by fans yelping “yes, nice sleeve leo, but how about that mad backwards sitar solo on ‘i’m only sleeping’?!?†the covers to each fab four album, however, are integral parts of those records, capturing the feel and fun of each chapter in their evolution to 21st century icons. Here’s the story of how each album cover was made….
If please please me and with had marked the band as a talent to watch, their third album — a soundtrack to their movie of the same name — raised the stakes even higher, from that mysterious opening guitar chord onward. Writing a full album by themselves for the first time, lennon and mccartney reeled off a raft of pitch-perfect ballads (''if i fell,'' ''i'll be back'') and infectious up-tempo numbers (''can't buy me love''). The resulting hook-fests sounded just like the beatles that the world already adored, only tighter, stickier, better.
There are two versions of this song. Version 1 features ringo on drums and was recorded first. When the beatles reconvened to cut the song again on september 11, 1962, however, producer george martin, still unsure of the new kid ringo's ability, substituted session drummer alan white. This "version 2," on which ringo merely plays tambourine, remains the best-known (and, frankly, better quality) version: it was released as a single in the us, as opposed to the original single in the uk, which was taken from version 1 (although subsequent uk pressings used version 2). Version 2 was also kept off the album in favor of 1, although martin claims this was probably not done on purpose.
With the beatles is the second studio album by the english rock band the beatles. It was released on 22 november 1963 on parlophone , exactly eight months after the band's debut please please me. Produced by george martin , the album features eight original compositions (seven by lennon–mccartney and " don't bother me ", george harrison 's first recorded solo composition and his first released on a beatles album) and six covers (mostly of motown , rock and roll , and r&b hits). The cover photograph was taken by the fashion photographer robert freeman and has since been mimicked by several music groups over the years. A different cover was used for the australian release of the album, which the beatles were displeased with.

5952008 fans the beatles recorded together for a little over seven years. Between october 1962 and may 1970, they released thirteen albums and a number of tracks issued on standalone singles. The catalogue created in that short period has sold more than that of any other group in history and its commercial success continues - the world’s best selling album dur-ing the first decade of the 21st century was a collection of the beatles’ chart-topping sin-gles called 1. But the group’s significance stems not just from huge sales figures. Their music has inspired generation upon generation of musicians, songwriters and producers. As mark ronson put it: ‘everything we take for granted - they absolutely invented it. ’ tom petty was a teenager during the years the beatles’ records appeared in quick succession: ‘they were just out in front. There was the beatles …and then there was everyone else. And everyone else could be great, but the beatles were leading the way and that’s just irrefutably true. ’.
Tweet by our calculations, the beatles recorded 227 songs that were officially released over the years, not including bbc or live tracks. Still, things get a little complicated in our list of all 227 beatles songs ranked worst to best. We've included a handful of demo-like tracks featured on the anthology collections that were originally intended as group songs but never fully recorded by the band at a time when the four beatles – george harrison , john lennon , paul mccartney and ringo starr – were working independently from one another, anyway. We also included the two newly assembled songs found on the first two anthologys that the surviving beatles based around a pair of lennon demos.
“i think one of the cheekiest things we ever did was to say to brian epstein, “we’re not going to america until we’ve got a number one record. †paul mccartney fifty years ago the beatles conquered america, touching down in new york on february 7, 1964 , and making their live u. S. Debut two nights later on the ed sullivan show. They seemed to come out of nowhere, but in fact, we knew they were coming. For months before they landed here, the beatles were all the rage in great britain, and america’s top news outlets had taken notice. Among them: nbc’s huntley-brinkley report, the leading network evening newscast of its time, and the forerunner to nbc nightly news.
“i think that classical music is changing really quickly. As a whole, the industry is becoming more innovative, more inclusive than ever. And quite frankly, we need to. We're looking at ways to get out of the concert hall and into different spaces and bring music to people that otherwise they wouldn't hear or seek out. It's a great opportunity to say, 'we as classical musicians and classical music enthusiasts, we just love good music. ' and whether it's the beatles or it's bach, if it's good, it's going to move our hearts and our souls. â€.
The oscar-winning auteur said: “we wanted to give the fans of the beatles all over the world a holiday treat, so we put together this five-minute sneak peek at our upcoming theatrical film the beatles: get back. We hope it will bring a smile to everyone’s faces and some much-needed joy at this difficult time. â€.

After becoming the greatest and most popular band in the world the beatles decided that they would rather be artists than performers. Especially after they stopped touring, 'the album' became the focus of their creative energy and the central channel through which the listener experienced the band. Thus the beatles made their albums into works of art instead of 'just collections of singles' (which makes the number of beatles albums on the list of the best albums of all time a lot less surprising). The beatles' albums are their true legacy, their true gift to posterity, their true claim to immortality. But which one is best?.

(cnn) -- it was 40 years ago today. On february 9, 1964, the beatles -- fresh from their conquests of britain and europe -- took the stage on the ed sullivan show in new york. North americans almost immediately became the next victims of john, paul, george and ringo. Beatlemania had gone global.
Unashamedly saluting little richard with its half-shrieked chorus and lennon’s wild electric piano runs, ‘i’m down’ is a short, sharp, simple burst of jump-up blues. Perhaps overshadowed by the fact it was the b-side to ‘help!’ in 1965, the song remains one of the beatles' liveliest numbers – despite lyrics about being used, abused and scored by your gal. Such is the raw, rock ’n’ roll energy behind the song, in fact, that when macca belts out ‘i’m down, i’m really down’, you can’t help thinking that this kid’s gonna be a-ok in the end. And funnily enough, he was. Tristan parker.

It was the ninth album released into that market in less than one and a half years ( vee-jay records and united artists records also released one album each during that period). The lp was released in both mono and stereo versions.
The white album is often revered by beatles fans as perhaps their greatest body of work. It's no wonder that one of the best female voices of the 20th century would choose a song from this lp to cover. Ronstadt's rendition of "good night" was recorded a little later in her career, in 1996. Yet, her pristine voice is as resonant as anyone can remember. She offers a hypnotic, soothing quality to the orchestral song like only she can.

Beatles for sale is the fourth studio album by the english rock band the beatles. It was released on 4 december 1964 in the united kingdom on emi 's parlophone label. The album marked a departure from the upbeat tone that had characterised the beatles' previous work, partly due to the band's exhaustion after a series of tours that had established them as a worldwide phenomenon in 1964. Beatles for sale was not widely available in the us until 1987, when the beatles mug set the beatles gift the beatles travel mug ' catalogue was standardised for release on cd. Instead, eight of the album's fourteen tracks appeared on capitol records ' concurrent release, beatles '65 , issued in north america only.
By marc platt john lennon, paul mccartney and george harrison, while writing songs for the beatles, all were able to brilliantly synthesize what was happening in their culture and the musical currency of the day with their own ingenious new directions in songwriting. But what songs then had the most impact on them, and directly influenced their songwriting to shape their miraculous catalog? let’s take a look, beginning at the very start of their ascent to what they called the “toppermost of the toppermost,†the summit of songwriting success.
Half a century later, the image of a cheerful fab four posing post-baby-slaughter remains unspeakably bizarre. Though the cover was immediately withdrawn, the fact that it was produced at all is a testament to the band’s unprecedented status. You couldn’t show a toilet seat on an album cover in 1966, and it would be a decade before punk rockers approached this level of public provocation. Yet there sat the beatles , gleeful among the carnage.
Synopsis on the music of the beatles and the rise of youth culture in the sixties a new sound conquered the world of popular music. It was the sound of beat music, which laid down the foundations for most of nowadays rock music. The sound was different from that of its predecessors in rock 'n' roll and rhythm and blues. And its origins did not lie in the united states but on the other side of the atlantic: in great britain. Undoubtedly the beatles operated in the front lines of this british invasion, which changed the face and sound of popular music for the next decades. About the same time youth manifested itself as an important social and cultural force.

The beatles ' "twist and shout" is beloved for its blemishes: john lennon 's voice is moments away from disintegration — a raw snapshot of a singer wrestling a rock song in real time. And while lennon eventually came to admire that take himself, those imperfections originally made him squirm.
About “the beatles (the white album)†the beatles, otherwise known as the white album, is the fab four’s eponymous ninth studio album. It followed the critically-divisive magical mystery tour soundtrack, which resulted in the band’s extended retreat to india. Their much-publicized visit to the maharishi mahesh yogi ’s compound managed to inspire some fresh material for the group, but it also found the beatles disenfranchised and in conflict with one another. Despite this, after returning from india they set out to compile what would become their most diverse project—a double lp that ranges from upbeat and melodious to downright haunting; before landing in the heavenly string arrangements of the ringo -fronted “good night. â€.

By the time the beatles split, in 1970, paul mccartney had already accomplished more than any musician could have hoped for. Having helped change the face of music on several occasions, he could have spent his post-beatles life in semi-retirement, emerging solely to remind us of his past accomplishments. As a solo artist, however, mccartney continued to shape pop and rock music, whether with new collaborators (wings, his wife linda, elvis costello , producer nigel godrich) or simply following wherever his creative muse led. The best paul mccartney songs, then, pay tribute to that relentless drive to keep finding new modes of expression.

the beatles, also known as the white album, is the ninth studio album and only double album by the english rock band the beatles , released on 22 november 1968. Its plain white sleeve contains no graphics or text other than the band's name embossed , [a] which was intended as a direct contrast to the vivid cover artwork of the band's previous lp sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band. The beatles is recognised for its fragmentary style and diverse range of genres, including folk , british blues , ska , music hall and the avant-garde. It has since been viewed by some critics as a postmodern work, as well as among the greatest albums of all time.
