Bob marley is revered the world over, both as the defining figure of jamaican music and as a spiritual leader. His wife rita carries on his work, and his sons damian "jr. Gong," julian, ziggy , stephen, ky-mani, as well as his daughters cedelia and sharon, carry on his musical legacy (the other siblings do not play music professionally).

Uprising was the last album by bob marley to be released in his lifetime. The day it reached the shops on 10 june 1980, marley and the wailers opened for fleetwood mac at the 69,000-capacity reitstadion in munich. It was the second night of the uprising tour, a european trek that took them to some of the biggest venues on the continent and to several countries they hadn’t played before, including switzerland, ireland, scotland and italy. Headlining at the san siro stadium in milan, on 27 june, marley and the wailers attracted a crowd of 120,000, said to be an all-time attendance record for a concert in italy and indeed europe (in a stadium). I have recently purchased the re-mastered version of this title along with rastaman vibration, exodus, kaya, survival and confrontation. What a revelation! it's almost like hearing them for the first time all over again, the re-mastering really is that good. I've chosen to review uprising as i had this as a kid, on old style, scratchy vinyl and i pretty much played it to destruction. The re-mastering has the reggae version of redemption song - brilliant! other highlights include the joyful could you be loved and as a perfect opener, coming in from the cold. Pimper's paradise has bob pouring scorn on those who misuse vulnerable young women. "i feel sorry for the victim", he cries, and you can tell by the emotion in his voice that he means it, "soon their very heads will bow". This is typical bob marley, beautiful music with a serious message. Bob marley was a good man and a very religious man. He always hated injustice, prejudice and cruelty. Anyway, even if you already have old copies of these classic albums i can assure you that you would not regret updating with these magnificent re-masters. They are not expensive, they all have new bonus material and they will last forever if you treat them with the respect they deserve! enjoy! 😎.
